The Director of Grants and Compliance is responsible for overseeing the development and management of a pipeline of current and prospective grant funders that align with the Boys & Girls Club of Dane County's (BGCDC) strategic priorities.
Through planned research, identification, development, compliance, and reporting activities, the Director of Grants and Compliance, and grant writing team will submit proposals and manage awards supporting BGCDC's mission and operating goals.
This role will also serve as the main point of contact for managing grant opportunities for each BGCDC department and staff.
The Director will lead in evaluating program offerings and compliance regimes to submit compelling proposals that meet programmatic requirements and ensure uniform guidance and compliance with pre- and post-grant requirements.
The role also requires flexibility and adaptability, including taking on other duties to support the organization's objectives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The fundamental, crucial job duties are the functions the position exists to perform.
50% Compliance and Regulation Management:
Implement organization-wide processes and procedures to ensure compliance with state and federal rules and regulations for managing state, local, and federal funds and various private grant sources as appropriate.
Advise, assist, and train BGCDC program and financial staff on proper grant management and processing procedures, systems, and operational enhancements to gain grant management efficiencies.
Work with BGCDC staff to ensure they are informed of grant contracts requirements and help advise on how best to navigate any necessary changes through communication with funders.
Partner with operational leaders to inform practices critical to grants management and compliance including tracking and measurement of requirements, program alignment with grant outcomes, etc.
30% Grant Management and Assistance:
Analyze grant funding trends to identify growing programs, opportunities for increased funding, and areas in need of greater development.
Conduct internal education to help BGCDC staff in identifying projects eligible for or requiring grant funding, how grant funding fits within organizational budget, and how to develop project and program work plans that are grant ready.
Support staff in preparing and submitting applications and reports in accordance with funder requirements and deadlines and provide guidance to BGCDC staff on necessary and/or useful evaluation strategies to grow reporting capacity and improve outcomes-based proposal writing.
Develop grant-based opportunities with appropriate internal departments and teams, and coordinate project plans to ensure adequate reporting and compliance per funder guidelines.
10% Reporting and Communication:
Monitor application and reporting timelines and communicate them interdepartmentally to ensure funder deadlines and requirements are met.
Track and monitor annual revenue goals for grants to provide financial updates and recommendations for annual budget development.
Proactively collaborate with and support BGCDC's departments to communicate grant activities, information needs, and compliance/reporting requirements.
Develop and manage complete record-keeping and file management policies related to past, present, and prospective grant-based donor engagement, that includes funder and proposal information, contracts, paperwork and key documentation.

This position has supervisory responsibility of BGCDC grant writing staff, volunteers, and interns.
Responsible for fostering a collaborative and positive work environment, promoting teamwork and professional development.
Must be able to travel throughout Dane County.
A valid WI driver's license and insurance are required if using a personal vehicle.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE The minimum allowable education and experience required is based on job-related requirements.

Minimum of 4 years of project management experience, including fundraising, grant management, uniform guidance, internal controls, or commensurate experience preferred.
Track record of receiving grants from funders of $5,000 - $100,000 and multi-year gifts.
Experience administrating grants as a recipient or administrator in the public, private, or non-profit sector.
2 years experience directly supervising and leading teams preferred REQUIRED HOURS Typical working hours, including required holidays and travel.
This position is classified as exempt and full-time regular, requiring availability during operational hours (typically 9 am-5:
00 pm) to fulfill the essential duties of the role, which will include working on holidays, weekends, and evenings as necessary to support events.
The position requires travel to off-site Clubs, meetings, and events.
